The recruitment of six National Advisors by the Ministry of Education, Women Affairs and Culture (MEWAC) is a step forward in the implementation of the Tonga Education Support Programme (TESP).

A clearly set out Regulatory Framework can stimulate private sector development, hence improving the Regulatory Framework of Tonga can only be good for the Private Sector and hence Private sector led growth.

Donor contributions to development continue to play a vital role in Tonga’s economy. The Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance to Grassroots projects (GGP) has provided much development and assistance in various areas of basic human needs such as water supply, health, basic education, vocational training, sanitary environment and rural infrastructure.

The signing of the contract between Ministry of Education and Uniquest Pty Ltd (owned by the University of Queensland) marks the first step in the implementation of SDP8’s education strategies. Uniquest Pty Ltd will start work on reforming the current curriculum as directed by SDP8 Sub-Strategy 1.1 on education “Reform the current curriculum.”
