TONGAN Pursuant to sections 32 and 34(1) of the Emergency Management [Cap 7.02], and having been satisfied of the following –
(1) The continuous spread of the novel coronavirus disease (“COVID-19”) worldwide and in countries proximate to Tonga;
(2) That pursuant to the Declaration of a Public Health Emergency (COVID-19) Regulations 2020, as amended, unless further extended under section 167 of the Public Health Act [Cap 12.15] and the Declaration of COVID-19 to be an Emergency Notifiable Condition dated 11 March 2021 and gazette 11 March 2021, it is clear that there is a continuous public health emergency in Tonga;
AND that is still necessary for emergency powers to be exercised in order to prevent or minimize risk and the loss of human life to COVID-19, I therefore hereby renew the Declaration of a State of Emergency that was made on 12 April 2021, to be applied over all the land and sea areas of Tonga commencing from Monday 10 May 2021 at 8.00pm until Monday 7 June 2021 at 8.00pm, unless further renewed in accordance with the law.
