The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the first point of contact for bilateral or direct foreign aid and foreign investment opportunities. Interested stakeholders should submit their proposals or inquiries to the Ministry, where a dedicated team will guide them through the investment or aid process.

Foreign governments or businesses interested in establishing diplomatic or trade relations with Tonga should contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly. The Ministry handles all inquiries related to international agreements, trade negotiations, and bilateral partnerships.

Businesses

You can register your business for a tax ID number online through the Ministry’s Business Registration Portal or visit the Ministry’s office.  You can find more information on the Tonga Business Registry here.

To register a whale-watching charter, you need to apply for a tourism business license through the Ministry of Tourism and register your business with the Ministry of Revenue and Customs for tax purposes.
